Farsi
It is also known as Persian and its varieties are official languages of Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan. It is classified as Iranian branch of Indo-European family of languages and is the most widely spoken language of this category. It is spoken by 72 million people as native language and 62 million people as second language. Development of Farsi language is distinguished in three different phases known as Old, Middle, Modern. Modern Persian is written in Arabic characters and has many loanwords from Arabic language and also from German, English, French and Turkic languages. Extensive literature especially poetry has been written in Farsi language. Although there are many varieties and dialects of Farsi but modern Farsi has varieties knows as Modern Iranian Persian, Dari and Tajik which are basically based on classic Persian literature and are different from local dialects.
There are 32 alphabets in Farsi and generally written from right to left with connecting letters and using only consonants and long vowels. Farsi grammar is relatively simple. Nouns do not have any gender and verb conjugation is made using prefixes and suffixes. Subject – Object – Verb is the common sentence structure though other combinations are also possible.
