Finnish
It is one of the two official languages of Finland and is spoken by majority of the population in Finland. It belongs to Finno-Ugrian group of languages which includes Hungarian, Estonian etc. Some common characteristics of this group of languages are absence of gender and articles, ability to form long words and postpositions along with prepositions. It is spoken by 5 - 6 million people in Finland and other countries like Sweden, Norway, Estonia, Russian and Canada. It is also an official minority language in Sweden and Norway and is also recognized in European Union.
Finnish is regarded as a synthetic language which means possession and grammatical relations is expressed with suffixes and also to form new words. It is considered a phonetic language which means every letter is pronounced in similar way in the word unlike English which is one of the reasons, foreign speakers of this language can be distinguished easily.
