French
It is the official language of more than 15 countries in Africa. It is considered an unofficial second language of Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia due to its extensive use in these countries. It is estimated to be spoken by 115 million people in 31 countries of Africa either as a first or second language. This statistics make Africa the largest French speaking continent in the world. Due to wide spread demographics, several varieties of French are spoken across Africa which can be divided into 3 categories: French spoken by Black Africans, Arabs and Creoles; all of which differ from standard French in terms of vocabulary and pronunciation. There are no general trends that can be inferred about the pronunciation rather it highly depends on the region and its corresponding African language influence. Vocabulary can consist of words from Standard French, old French, words taken from local languages and some French words which spell same but differ in meanings..
